Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)

Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) is a treatment option for men with low testosterone levels (hypogonadism). It involves taking manufactured forms of testosterone to restore levels to a normal range, potentially improving overall well-being. TRT is typically prescribed by a doctor and can be administered through injections, patches, gels, or other methods.

Benefits:

Improved physical health: TRT can increase muscle mass and strength, reduce body fat, and enhance bone density.

Enhanced mental health: It may alleviate mood swings, irritability, and depression.

Improved sexual health: TRT can increase libido, improve erectile function, and boost energy levels.

Important Considerations:

Not a one-size-fits-all solution: TRT may not be suitable for everyone, and the decision to pursue it should be made in consultation with a healthcare provider.

Individualized approach: The dosage and method of administration of TRT should be tailored to the individual's needs and medical history.

Monitoring is crucial: Regular blood tests and other monitoring are necessary to ensure that testosterone levels are within a healthy range and to detect any potential side effects

Penile Prosthesis Implant

A penile implant, or prosthesis, is a surgical procedure used to treat erectile dysfunction. It can restore the ability to get and maintain an erection when other treatments have failed. Two main types of penile implants exist: inflatable and semi-rigid rods.

Inflatable Implants:

Three-piece inflatable implant: This is the most common type, accounting for 90% of new implants. It consists of two cylinders placed in the corpora cavernosa (the tissue that engorges during an erection), a fluid reservoir, and a scrotal pump. The pump allows the patient to inflate the cylinders and create an erection, and deflate them when desired.

Two-piece inflatable implant: This is similar to the three-piece but has a smaller reservoir and is preferred for patients who have had pelvic surgery or radiation.

Semi-Rigid (Malleable) Implants:

These implants are always firm, unlike inflatable implants that can be flexed. They consist of a rod that is inserted into the corpora cavernosa.

Semi-rigid implants offer a more permanent erection, but may be less natural-feeling than inflatable implants.

Procedure and Recovery:

The implantation procedure is typically performed under anesthesia and involves a small incision at the base of the penis.

Most patients can resume sexual activity within six weeks after the procedure.

Recovery guidelines may include wearing a scrotal support, limiting heavy activity, and avoiding tub baths or swimming.

Peyronie’s Disease Surgery

Peyronie's disease surgery involves procedures to correct penile curvature and address pain or erectile dysfunction. Options include plication (shortening the opposite side of the penis to match the curve), grafting (lengthening the penis by removing or replacing the plaque with a graft), or penile prosthesis implantation (a device that restores erectile function).

Penile Girth Enhancement

Penile girth enhancement involves procedures aimed at increasing the circumference of the penis. These can be nonsurgical, like injecting fillers or fat transfer, or surgical, such as using implants or other techniques. Nonsurgical methods are generally considered less invasive and offer temporary results, while surgical methods aim for more permanent changes but carry higher risks and complications.

All surgeries, including plastic surgery, carry some risks. However, when performed by a qualified, board-certified surgeon in a safe, accredited facility, complications are rare. Most patients experience a safe procedure and smooth recovery. It’s important to follow your surgeon’s instructions and discuss any concerns beforehand.

Yes, most patients will receive prescriptions after plastic surgery. These may include pain relievers, antibiotics to prevent infection, and medications to reduce swelling. Your surgeon will explain what medications you need and how to take them.

Recovery from cosmetic surgery varies depending on the procedure. Most patients can expect some swelling, bruising, and discomfort during the first few days. You’ll need to rest and avoid strenuous activities as directed by your surgeon. Most people return to normal activities within 1–2 weeks, but full recovery may take longer.

Cosmetic surgery is a branch of plastic surgery focused on enhancing a person’s appearance. It includes procedures that improve facial features, body shape, or skin texture for aesthetic purposes, rather than medical necessity.

The most popular cosmetic procedures for men include gynecomastia surgery (male breast reduction), liposuction, rhinoplasty (nose surgery), eyelid surgery, and hair transplantation. Non-surgical treatments like Botox and dermal fillers are also increasingly popular among men.

The best time to have a facelift is when you are healthy and have realistic expectations. Many people choose to schedule surgery in the fall or winter, as cooler weather makes it easier to recover discreetly at home. Ultimately, the right time depends on your personal schedule, health, and goals. Discuss your timing with your surgeon for the best results.
